Q: If I purchase one license can I activate VbxSafe on two computers?
A: VbxSafe is licensed per computer. If you want to run it on two computers you need to buy two licenses.
Q: Will VbxSafe copy opened files?
A: Yes, VbxSafe leverages Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Technology to backup opened files
Q: How VbxSafe secures my data?
A: VbxSafe offers several industry standard strong encryption algorithms to protect your data.
Q: Does VbxSafe copies all files every time it runs?
A: No, VbxSafe identifies files modified since last backup and only copies such files. This makes subsequent backups run much faster
Q: Can VbxSafe copy only modified portion of the file? I want to backup my Outlook PST file, but it is 2GB and I don’t want to copy the whole file every time.
A: This is called block-level backup and it is fully supported with VbxSafe .
Q: Does VbxSafe keep older versions of the file?
A: Yes and this feature gives you an ability to restore a file to a certain point in the past.
Q: If I delete a file on my local computer is it also deleted from backup storage?
A: Yes, the file will be deleted from the online storage too. By default, though, the file will stay on the online storage for 30 days to prevent accidental deletion. We call it Smart Delete.
Q: Can VbxSafe copy the data immediately as it changes (e.g. new files are added or existing files are modified)?
A: Yes, this is what we call Real-time backup. You can select this option in the Backup Wizard Scheduling step. By using a low level Windows API this feature comes with zero impact on your computer performance.
Q: Does VbxSafe support MAC OS X platform?
A: No, it is Windows only.
Q: I don’t want to wait six weeks to get my 100Gb uploaded for the first time?
A: For a one-time fee, VBX will arrange to copy your backup data onto a memory stick and upload it for you for the first time.
Q: How do I know how big the data I want to back up is?
A: Use Microsoft Explorer (Right click Start Button, then click “Explore” or “File Explorer”). Navigate to the folder you wish to backup and right-click. Choose “Propertes”, and it will tell you how many Mb or Gb are in that folder (and all the folders below).
Q: Does the functionality of my pc or laptop become affected during the backups?
A: Your PC should not be noticeably slower. Your Internet speed may be affected, but as the backup data is usually going “out” while browsing and emails are coming “in”, you may not notice it. If you are affected, just go and stop the backup job. Resume it when you want to.
Q: What happens if there is a loss of power or communications during the backup?
A: Nothing. At the next scheduled time the backup will restart and pick up where it left off.
Q: Is there a way that I can compress the data I want to have stored?
A: Yes, during the setup of the backup plan, there is an option to choose compression, but some files (such as photos and videos) do not benefit from compression.
Q: How long do I have to wait to retrieve stored data?
A: As soon as it has been uploaded to the cloud it is available to be retrieved.
